Past, Present, And future

 Future Things To Expect

Something that I would like to do in the future is Tips Tuesdays. I would like to give at least one tip every Tuesday about baking or decorating. There is much more to baking and decorating than following a recipe or rules. I hope these tips will be helpful for you all. I do not have a set date as to when I will stop giving tips. That will be announced if I finally am out of tips. Are there any questions that you have about baking and decorating? I hope to answer one of your questions on Tuesday for Tips Tuesday!

I would like to share a blog that I like a lot, it is called Preppy Kitchen. It is a man named John Kanell and he runs a blog, YouTube channel, and other social media platforms. I have messed up on some of his recipes before but that was my own doing. John makes incredible foods and desserts. He does a variety of different things, even frosting. He also shares tips and tricks. I think this blog is interesting and has a lot of great recipes. Here is the link to John's blog... https://preppykitchen.com/ Would You like me to add more blogs that I like in future posts?

How To Make Easy Frosting

As mentioned above, I talked about John Kanell. Here are two links from him that I would like to share. The first one is https://preppykitchen.com/. which is his blog. This is just his blog page but there is a search bar at the top right corner to type in whatever recipe you are looking for. There is also a YouTube video by him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYLwsxGkmhs.

This video is a recipe on how to make easy frosting. It is buttercream frosting that is simple and there isn't much that can go wrong. These links add to this post because it is simple and from one of my favorite people that cooks and bakes. I also like it because it is a recipe, but it is a good way to taste your recipes to see if you like them. Especially because this recipe is easy to fix. Most desserts you can't taste until it is cooked due to eggs and other ingredients but with this frosting, you can taste and alter it to what you like.

I connect with this visual because I like to start off with things that are easy for me. Cooking is easier for me because I can taste the food and change it a little, but desserts are hard to do that with because once they are baked you cannot really do anything with them. However, I included the picture of frosting because I find frosting easy to make and it is something I can taste and change as I go.

The insight that this visual adds to my blog topic is that not everything has to be complicated and it can be changed. Just because there is a recipe, that does not mean you cannot work with it and change it to your own taste or what you like better. Just like the saying, a piece of cake, every cake needs frosting. It does not have to be fancy frosting it can be easy frosting.

Challenges

I would like to add challenges in this week's post. When trying something new there is also going to be a challenge no matter what. Challenges are not necessarily bad, they help us improve as a person. I face challenges every day including baking and decorating. Even though I have been baking and decorating for some time now, I still am challenged by some things. My major challenge is trying new recipes. I never know if they will taste good or turn out right. What are your challenges when it comes to baking and decorating?

I would like to ease your mind a little. View the picture below of the building blocks. The building blocks signify layers, challenges, and growth. All of which explains baking and decorating. There is a layer to every dessert, whether it is cake, frosting, or even ingredients. The challenges come from everyone's strengths and weaknesses. Growth because the more you learn or build you (and the building blocks) grow.

Current Events

My blog topic is about baking and decorating but there are current event issues that are going on every day. One issue that I would like to raise attention to is microplastic in water. This is important to my blog because some of the products I use come in plastic containers or wrapped in plastic. I also drink a lot of bottled water. There are other current events that I stay up to date with. Would you like to hear of those as well?

Water is an essential need for survival not just for humans but for other species. If you are unfamiliar with what microplastic is, it is very very small pieces of plastic that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Most people do not know about microplastic because it is not something they can see for themselves. Plastic is not good for the environment, humans, or other species. Microplastics have been a rising concern lately and have effects on Earth, humans, and other species. Here is an article from CNN read a little more about microplastics https://www.nbcnews.com/science/science-news/microplastics-human-body-know-dont-know-rcna23331. Also, view the picture below to see what microplastics look like.

Last Week's Blog Question

I would also like to answer questions the best I can from each weeks post. I will answer more than one question as well. If it seems to be a common question I may do a whole post answering it instead of just at the end of each post. Do not hesitate or feel alone if you are having trouble with a recipe or find my tips not helpful. I would love to explain and help you better understand. The question from last week was...

Will it include specific designs like themes?

To answer this question, the baking and decorating that I do is and will not be specific designs or themes. The things I make are specifically what customers ask for what I feel like making for holidays. For example, maybe cookies decorated and shaped like Christmas trees or a heart cake for Valentine's day. I hope this answers your question! If anyone has any questions or comments feel free to add them to this blog post!
